Without anyone noticing, Kyori had casually walked back into the forest after Seijin dropped three of the approaching soldiers. She had no doubt that the rest of the group could handle the situation on their own, especially when it looked to be that the soldiers weren't actual benders themselves. She was looking around for any abandoned boats -- it was possible that one of the many refugees had dragged one up to land and hid it in the forage before locating the camp in the center of the island. There's gotta be something we can use to get off this damned chuck of land! Kyori thought with frustration, kicking a piece of driftwood and sent pieces of its bark flying. It was then she noticed the stinging pain in her wrists, and she looked down to examine where the firebender had seared her skin. The golden-colored armor on her forearms had protected her somewhat, but the soldier had gripped low enough on her wrist that it left her with burns there and at the base of her hands. Kyori felt her heart fall with the slightest taste of hopelessness.

It didn't look like there were any boats conveniently laying around, and time could be running out for them if the Fire Nation were taking over the entire island. She analyzed all of the possibilities she could think of: the earth benders could bend a boat of some sort, but earth sinks. The water benders could bend a passageway through the ocean, but that's a lot of water to bend, especially for only the two of them. There was no way they would make it more than a couple minutes without tiring. The one airbender could possibly bend a pocket of air for them to walk the ocean floor, but the ocean was deep and that would take time. Even then, Zasi would still tire out before making it to another shoreline. IF they didn't get eaten by a dolphin-piranha. Unagi also lives nearby... Kyori thought with a shudder. There was no way she'd want to come face to face with that sea serpent-like eel. She turned around and began to make her way back towards the beach where she had left the other benders, hoping they hadn't realized she was missing...

(Sorry for the shortness/crappiness of this post!)

Li - you know him -

Shortly after mentioning their presence, the Fire Nation soldiers noticed the group of benders and began running at them. With little time to react, Lí assumed a horse stance and reached out with his feelings for a rock... but instead of feeling the solidity of a rock he could throw it the enemy, it felt like his hands were bogged down in sand. 'No shit, Sherlock,' Lí thought wryly to himself, 'could it POSSSIBLY be because you're STANDING ON A GOD DAMN BEACH?' Well, the feeling was certainly very strange, but at least he could feel the sand. "Here goes nothing," Lí muttered under his breath as he tried to grip as much of heavy, yet fluid and slippery sand as he could in his bending grasp. He felt for the sand about halfway between him and the soldiers, tried to hold it as tightly packed as he could, and flung it towards the soldiers. It looked a bit like someone had kicked the sand and sent a light spray at the soldiers. As soon as it made contact though, one of the soldiers dropped to the ground with a loud cry. "what the-?" Lí was a bit confused until he glanced to his left and noticed that Seijin was nocking another arrow onto her bow. She must've hit the first soldier at the same time his sand had hit, and the soldiers hadn't even really noticed the sand. "Welllll, it looks like you've got this under control," Lí muttered under his breath as he took a step back to get out of the archer's way.

After Seijin's third arrow, the two remaining soldiers were fairly close. Zasi and Yotem,  that latter of whom had just arrived from the forest, each took down one. Kesuk silenced the guard who was still swinging from the ground, and returned to the group suggesting that they get off the island. "I second the motion! Ky, didn't you have an idea- wait, Ky?! Where'd she go???" Lí was pretty sure she'd exited the forest with them just minutes go, and he didn't notice her leave during the fighting.

Zasi - Airbender - 16 - Tags//Everyone
Goal in life: Make Kesuk laugh - Zasi: Always on the side of peace

Zasi let out a long sigh as she ran her hands down her face. She was ready to just scream until she passed out. This had been the most stressful and crazy time of her life.  It was all new to her, and she was so overwhelmed by everything. She didn't know how to feel or what to do. It took all of her just to push those emotions aside and focus on getting to safety. Collecting her thoughts and pushing them to the back of her brain, she came back to reality. They were safe for the moment, but it was only a matter of time before someone found them. They needed to get off the island, and soon. She shuffled a foot in the sand. Earlier Lí had tried to bend the sand, or at least it had seemed like it. A lot of sand had been moved with whatever he had done, but it wasn't solid by any means (literally, not smack talking him XD). What about underneath the sand?

With that thought in her mind, Zasi jogged towards the edge of the island where the waves lapped at the sand. She turned to Lí just as he asked about Ky. Perhaps she was just checking to see if there was anyone following the group? Zasi turned back to her thoughts before she lost them. Crouching down, she scooped some of the sand. It was more compact with the water adding pressure to it until she disturbed it. She let out a groan. So much for that thought. Standing up, she brushed sand off of herself, noticing two dark patches on her knees from crouching in the wet sand. She made her way back to the group to listen for another plan. They could use one.
"Well, I had a plan but it's shot unless we have a skilled waterbender and earthbender. Which is even a maybe, because there is no guarantee that would even work." Zasi let out a small sigh.

K O H A K U - Male - 17 - Firebender

Kohaku drew to a stop at the beach, unsure what to focus on. It seemed like everyone he could recognize were fighting, each a blur of motion that somehow managed to coordinate and work with the other despite how actually familiar they were with each other. He could assume that they weren't incredibly close with each other--but desperate times. Before he could actually decide on what he would do, the fight was over, leaving him slightly stunned at the brutal slaughter. He didn't feel particularly bad for the Firenation soldiers--they had probably done the same with innocent civilians in other nations--but Kohaku had thought that there would have been a bit more hesitation among the refugees when it came to killing the soldiers.

With a small shake of his head, Kohaku took a step back, scanning the beach for anywhere he could go. He had probably stuck with the group long enough--at some point they would become suspicious of him again. At the moment, there was a common enemy, but it would only a matter of time before he would be the easy one to blame if he continued to go with them. At least Seijin had marketable skills--the best he could offer were pitiful fire blasts and pickpocketing skills--something he didn't think was all that desirable. He bit his lip as he looked between the refugees, now slowly pulling together again to try and find a way off the island. If he was going to leave, it would have to be then.

Kesuk - Male - 16 - Waterbender
Tags: Everyone except Ky because she's having fun looking for boats lol

Lí immediately agreed with Kesuk in that they needed to leave, and then brought the group's attention to the fact that Kyori was missing. Kesuk wasn't overly concerned. In fact, he really couldn't care less. Her wandering off was not his, nor the rest of the group's, problem. Then Zasi headed back from where she had been standing close to the water and said she might have a plan, but that they would need a good earthbender and waterbender to pull it off. Well damn, now Kyori missing was their problem. From what he had seen, she was the most skilled earthbender in the group. Though to be honest, he hadn't seen Lí do a lot of bending, nor had he bothered to pay attention to the quality of the bending that he had seen Lí do, so perhaps he was wrong about that assumption.

Kesuk sighed and removed the hair tie from his hair, retying it quickly. All the fighting and running had caused it to slip, and it had been annoying him. The movement of his hands, though simple, also helped him think. "Zasi, why don't you tell us your plan? If we think it could work, we'll need to go find Ky. Unless, Lí, you think you could do whatever it is that needs doing. As for the waterbender, that will have to be Yotem." Kesuk hated admitting it, but Yotem was by far the better of the two of them, at least when it came to bending. Kesuk would start working to remedy that soon, but now was most certainly not the time.

((Am I the only one who ties and reties my hair when I'm thinking? It gets to a point where I don't even notice when I do it anymore. It's kind of weird, actually. Also, tried out the shorter post thing we talked about. We'll see how that goes lol.))

Zasi - Airbender - 16 - Tags//Everyone, but Ky
Goal in life: Make Kesuk laugh - Zasi: Always on the side of peace

Zasi watched Kesuk undo his hair. She blinked when she heard her name. He wanted to hear her plan, which wasn't really one at all. Blushing, she rubbed the back of her neck. "Well it isn't a full plan yet, but I was thinking about working as a team. If you feel the sand in the water, it is pretty solid. The pressure of the water keeps the sand in place. Maybe we could make it work like earth, in a sense. So what if we had Yotem-" Zasi noted Kesuk's mention of the waterbender being the better choice of the two. "and either Ky or Lí pair up? We could use the water to keep the sand stiff, while we move the sand up towards the surface. It would be like walking on water! Though I'm not exactly sure that could be possible. It's just a thought." Zasi felt a blush cross her cheeks again, embarrassed to have all eyes on her and expecting her to have a plan. It wasn't anything near a solid plan, but it made sense to her. She didn't really know anything about bending when it came to earthbenders and waterbenders. She wasn't sure what they were capable of or what skill lever was needed to do what she had jut described.

(Yuck so short)

Seijin - 18 - Firebender

Seijin narrowed her eyes at Li, giving him a side glance. Of course I have this handled, I get stuff done Mister 'State The Obvious', she grumbled in her mind. Acting fast was key, and she needed to do what she could to bring the fight to a close asap, regardless of what other people were trying to do. Efficiency! She watched as the rest of the group took down the other soldiers and moved out of her firebending stance. They were safe, for now. Seijin of course felt the same as everyone else. She didn't want to become a permanent decaying part of this island (no matter how much it could help the ecosystem!) and wanted to leave as soon as possible. Turning herself slowly in a 360 fashion, she scanned the area for Ky. No sign of her. Damn. She didn't know much yet about the members in her group, but Seijin wouldn't put it past Kyori if she had fled during the chaos. Seijin really hoped that this wasn't the case though, especially after they had risked their lives to save Ky from the Firebenders. If she left that would be just plain rude and quite dishonorable. Seijin breathed and tried to whisk away her thoughts. None of this made sense. Ky waited for them before rushing out before. She had to be a good person. Ky had faith in her when she set her free, so Seijin needed to have faith in Ky.

Right! The earth-path idea from earlier! "Well, two earthbenders are better than one for this anyway, right?" she said as she walked over and bent down to retrieve the three arrows from each of the Firenation soldiers' bodies. She only ever really saw Kesuk fight with his staff, so she assumed he was only a member of the Watertribe and didn't say anything. After getting the arrows, she quickly rinsed them off in the water, put them back into her quiver, and made her way back to the group. "But that sounds like an alright plan, I mean we don't really have many other options anyway so, " Seijin shrugged mid-sentence. So far she wasn't helping much in this scheme, she needed to offer assistance otherwise they could leave her behind, you never know. "If more soldiers arrive as we're leaving then I can bring up the rear to protect you guys as best I can," she said reassuringly and started to walk down the beach. "We should really go make sure Kyori didn't get into another altercation so we can pull this off though."

Lí Ren - Male - 19 - Earthbender

Lí listened to what the others had to say, the words all taking some time to sink in. "Wait, Kesuk, did you say we'll need to find Kyori if the plan could work and if I couldn't do it?" Lí asked incredulously. "We've been fighting together all day, trying to get off this island. And you want to leave without her? Zasi, that idea sounds like it could work out. I really don't think I could make it happen without Ky, but even if I could, I wouldn't leave without at least TRYING to find her." Lí spat his last words with some contempt at Kesuk. "Anyway, considering we WILL need Kyori for this plan, can we please just try to find her, like Seijin said?" With that, Lí turned his back on the group and began striding in the direction of the tree line, calling Kyori's name.

Kesuk - Male - 16 - Waterbender
Tags: Everyone except Ky

Kesuk listened as Zasi explained her plan. He wasn't exactly sure on the physics of sand plus water plus bending, but it sounded plausible. They'd only know if they tried, at least, and like Seijin said, it was about their only option. Seijin offered to take up the rear if they needed it and then disappeared into the woods, saying something about finding Kyori.

And then Lí, the last person Kesuk had ever expected any trouble from, suddenly snapped at him. Kesuk blinked and stepped back, surprised at the onslaught of words. He stayed silent throughout the rant, his expression neutral, and made no move to stop the earthbender when he stomped out away from the group (rather childishly, actually) and vanished into the trees, calling out Kyori's name. Well, that was a good way to draw the attention of any Fire Nation soldiers that might be nearby.

Kesuk folded his arms, tapping a finger against his staff as he started thinking. Clearly, he'd done something Lí thought was unacceptable. Well, he'd implied that they would leave Kyori behind if they didn't need her. And what was wrong with that? She had wandered off on her own. None of them were obligated to stay together or make sure that everyone else stayed with the group. As far as he was concerned, they had only been together so far because larger groups were safer and because they had a better chance of escaping the island that way, not because of any sort of attachment to each other. They weren't friends or family. They had no ties to each other. There was no need to care so much about each other. That was logical. Lí said that they had fought together all day, but in Kesuk's perspective, they had only fought together for a single day. Was a single day of fighting together out of necessity enough to base claims of loyalty and camaraderie on? Not in his mind. And yet there had to be a logical answer, something that would allow Kesuk to see exactly why Lí had been so upset... Come to think of it, why did Kesuk care about this so much? Anyway, his thoughts were running in circles now. That wouldn't help anything.

Kesuk retreated to Zasi's side. "I don't understand," he said. "But I suppose I had better try to fix this. What do I do, Zasi?" Normally Kesuk would just ignore the source of any drama (or rather, stay as far away as humanly possible from issues like this and the people who caused them), but if he was going to escape the island together with the rest of the group, well, avoiding Lí wouldn't be very feasible. Better to figure this out quickly and then focus on the actual problem at hand: getting away from the invading Fire Nation army.

Zasi - Airbender - 16 - Tags//Everyone, but Ky
Goal in life: Make Kesuk laugh - Zasi: Always on the side of peace

Zasi let out a small gasp when Kesuk asked her for advice. 'What do I do, Zasi?' She didn't expect him to ask her for help. Since when did Kesuk ask for help or opinion? She wasn't even sure what to say. "Wait, what? You want me to solve this?" She glanced between Kesuk and Lí's disappearing figure. She was still confused as to why he wanted her to help him. The entire time she had known him (which to be fair wasn't long), Kesuk had never really wanted to actually fix a conflict. Even one as simple as this. She understood why Lí would be upset. Ky was a fellow earthbender, and they all had been through a stressful situation together. Judging from what little interaction she has had with Lí, she would also guess that he connected well with others. Did Kesuk really not know why Lí would be upset?

"Well for starters, Ky has been with us all this time. It doesn't make sense to just leave her out here. Lí is right about that. She is one of us now." Zasi decided to start with explaining why the earthbender might be upset, though she wasn't for sure this was the actual reason. She then turned in the direction Lí stormed off then back to Kesuk, taking a moment to decide the best way to word the next part. "I'm sure you didn't mean to get him riled up. It's just that sometimes the way you say things can sound a bit harsh..." Zasi bit her lip debating something before she placed a hand on Kesuk's shoulder. She gave him a small, encouraging smile. "Don't worry. You just need some practice."
