Avatar: Scorching Earth // Not Accepting!

Kesuk saw the water tribe man go for his knife at the sight of them and mentally rolled his eyes. Great, an insecure, nervous one. Why did he feel the need to point his knife at a young girl, especially one so obviously outgoing and sweet as Zasi? He stepped further in front of Zasi, between her and the strange waterbender. Just in case he got the utterly ridiculous idea of attacking her or something. This was his pupil, thank you very much, and he still had things to teach her. Besides, he still wanted to see how much training it took to make her quiet, and he couldn't do that if she were dead or injured.

Seijin looked back to see that Kohauk wasn't right behind her. In fact, he was almost near the edge. This...was probably not the best idea she thought. She glanced around camp with wide, panicked eyes. It didnt seem like anyone noticed she was there yet. Seijin began to slowly back up hoping that maybe, just maybe, she could leave without disrupting anything. While doing so she almost tripped quite a few times. "Damn it," she cursed under her breathe. Why must her feet fail her now?

Zasi jumped slightly when a knife was pointed at her. Her eyes widened slightly before she gulped. He probably was just surprised by her tapping his shoulder. She rocked back oh her heels as she calmed herself back down. She opened her mouth to speak, but couldn't find the words. She was still shocked about the knife. The boy said he didn't need help, but Zasi could tell he was tired. Everyone was always hungry. It was a pattern in this camp. Zasi bit her lip to hold back a sigh. 'Why would you want to be around someone like me?' Zasi glanced over to the waterbender beside her (ah there are two of them! But this time it's Kesuk she is looking at), and thought for a moment. She turned her attention back to the other boy (Yotem) and spoke. "Maybe because if I don't, no one else will. Everybody needs help every once in a while, even if it's just a simple 'hey, do you need someone to talk to?' So hello, I'm Zasi. Do you need someone to talk to?" She tilted her head and smiled. She stuck her hand out and then thought better of it. "I am still holding that offer out about joining us for a meal." She glanced at Kesuk and motioned with her eyes to the other boy. "Would that be alright with you? I mean, he seems nice enough." Zasi remembered the knife and couldn't help but smile at the irony of her last comment.

"The further East you go on the island, the more likely you would probably be to find the bigger game," Kyori answered, shifting the weight in her feet as her eyes grazed the camp. "I think they sense it too. The Fire Nation coming from the West, I mean." Then her eyes rested on a girl standing near the edge of camp with a fleeting and unsure stature. The girl glanced back and fourth between what looked like nothing but bushes in the forest before slowly beginning to back away. What Ky especially noticed was the fact that she wore clothes that looked of Fire Nation culture. Kyori's hand immediately moved up and behind her shoulder, her hand looking for the handle of her sword. In one stomach-dropping moment, she realized she had tucked it away in her tent before bringing the firewood into camp.
Kyori sucked in a deep breath.
"FIREBENDER!"

Kesuk raised his eyebrow. She was asking his opinion? He looked the other waterbender over. As long as the man wasn't going to go starting any pointless fights or be annoying, he really couldn't care less whether he joined them or not. "I don't care. Do whatever you like," he said with a disinterested look. Then suddenly someone shouted, "Firebender!" and Kesuk jerked around, looking for the source, ready to settle into his fighting stance. Was the Fire Nation attacking this island already?

Kohaku eyed the camp warily, until he heard a woman scream. He flinched and looked between Seijin and the woods behind him. He wanted to flee as quickly as possible but he still did owe the woman for the peach and he didn't want to abandon her to the mercy of the refugees, who already seemed to be incredibly hostile towards firebenders.
Kohaku took a couple of quick steps forwards and grabbed Seijin's wrist, pulling her back, "Run," he managed out in a strangled whisper, before letting go and sprinting off himself, heart pounding in his chest. He spared a glance behind him to see if Seijin was running as well.

Seijin heard the yell "Firebender" and quickly tried to gain her composure. She had been through this countless times before, it and would be okay. She felt herself jolt backwards from Kohaku's pull and followed through with the motion, racing after him. Hopefully they could out run them, because fighting was the last thing Seijin wanted to do. Especially after all the grief her people already caused these people. She breathed deeply with each step, as her mother taught her that a Fire Bender's breathing is the most important thing one can have and maintain.

Afraid that the firebender would run back to the Fire Nation army and alert them of the refugee camp's location, Kyori yelled to anyone and everyone in close proximity. "Follow her, we can't let her escape!" She left her stack of wood, the rabbit squirrel, and Li standing in the center of camp and ran back to her campsite to retrieve her sword. Sliding into her tent, she ripped up her blanket as fast as she could and swung her sword and sheath over her shoulder as she made her way back to the fleeing enemy.

As Yotem waited he saw the other waterbender put himself between Yotem and the girl. He felt his fingers brush against the handle of the knife, just in case. He narrowed his eyes at the waterbender, analyzing his movements and behavior, just like at any animal during a hunt or an enemy during a fight. By the looks of it, he was just protecting the girl. Who wouldn’t be aggressive toward someone who pulled a knife out on their friend? Yotem scoffed and averted his attention back to the girl, who was processing the shock of nearly getting attacked. She clearly hadn’t seen much of the horrors of the world and wasn’t prepared that someone would attack her if she snuck behind them. That could get her killed on day. He glanced back at the other waterbender before turning back to the girl as she gathered her words. Yotem listened to the girl talk, and was a bit surprised by her words. The girl, who identified herself as Zasi, was not at all intimidated or shaken by Yotem at all. So kind, so innocent. It confused him. Why be so foolish? Yotem didn’t understand. Everytime he tried to be nice to someone they ignored or hurt him. Yotem was taught, over and over, you cannot trust others as they will betray you and drag you down. Only his time alone made him strong, not by the companionship of others. He saw her stick out her hand and he just glared at it, not reaching out to receive it. The girl turned toward her compainion before looking back at Yotem, where she was greeted with a snort of disgust. “Trusting me could be your last mistake, Zasi” he retorted. But her suggestion toward a meal, and the thought of food started to make his mouth water. Stupid, stupid kid, dont give in to weakness... a voice in his head echoed. He heard a sarcastic reply from Zasi’s water tribe friend and scowled. Luckily, with his wolf helm, many of his facial expressions were masked. Yotem waited for a response when he heard the cry.

‘FIREBENDER!’ His head locked forward and he gripped his hands around the handles of his blades, the zing of the blades coming out echoed in his ears. Yotem acted so fast he hadn’t realized he pulled both knifes from their sheathes out. His heart pounded and anger flashed across his eyes. With that word, firebender, all he could think of was that man, the one who killed his sister. He muttered a quick sentence under his breath, audible enough for the two benders near him to her. “You’ll pay for this... “. In the corner of his eye Yotem saw a flash of red. The firebenders. Like a animal closing in on its prey, Yotem sprinted off in pursuit of the firebenders, for in his eyes all firebenders were cursed with evil and not just the man that killed his sister.
