Had this discussion two years ago in high school and it hurt everyone's brains a lot, so I thought I'd bring this up here LOL What is your opinion? Is a hot dog a sandwich? And if it's not, then what is it? Hmmmmm?

Lol Josh! Honestly though, there are so many different types of sandwiches, so I don't see why a hotdog wouldn't be a sandwich. It is placed inside a bun, just like a hamburger.

Yeah, exactly Lex! That's what my class was getting to: If a sub/hoagie/hero is technically one piece of bread surrounding meats and is considered a type of sandwich, then a hot dog bun technically does the exact same thing as that with the hot dog and is therefore kind of a sandwich?

I feel like a hot dog isn't usually a sandwich because a hot dog bun is only one piece of bread If the bun breaks in half, it would be a sandwich But it's actually meat wrapped inside one piece of bread, so it isn't a sandwich

| Yeah, like Kobiee said, just being one piece of bread doesn't make it a non-sandwich. Also, there are open faced sandwiches, which are honestly even less like a sandwich than a hot dog, and yet are still considered sandwiches.
